Mrs. Alice Murphy Gilbert, age 83 of South Hill died Sunday, November 2, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. Gilbert and her parents, Jody P. Murphy and Oletha T. Murphy. She is survived by three sons and their wives, David G. Sauls (Eva) , Douglas E Gilbert (Melissa) both of Virginia Beach and Michael A. Gilbert (Kim) of South Hill. Also surviving is a sister Patricia Best of Clayton, NC, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Mrs Gilbert was a retired bookkeeper and an active member of Providence United Methodist Church.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 7pm Thursday, November 6th at Farrar Funeral Home. Memorial considerations may be directed to Providence United Methodist Church.
