Obituary for B. J. (Billy Jack) McKee

B.J. (Billy Jack) McKee was born in Brady, TX and grew up in Galveston. In 1954 he graduated from Howard Payne University. After pastoring churches in TX, he had an exemplary 24-year career as a Chaplain in the U.S. Navy. At retirement, he returned to the civilian pastorate, serving First Baptist in Washington, NC and Bethany Baptist in Baskerville, VA. While serving at Bethany, B.J. and devoted wife Joyce, hosted individual clergy and spouse counseling retreats at their home on the lake in Bracey, VA. They returned to Texas in 2003. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Joyce Lee McKee. He is survived by his three daughters and their families: Sheri McMillan of Duncanville, TX (sons Stephen and Daniel), Robbie (and John) Hackworth of Powder Springs, GA (Sarah, Hannah and Ben), Terry (and Ray) Eubanks of Vienna, WV (Jesse and Rachel), and 6 great-grandchildren. His sister, Addie Mae White of Marble Falls, TX, also survives him.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Bethany Baptist in Baskerville on Sunday, October 29, at 3:00 p.m. Online condolences may be placed at www.farrarfuneralhome.net. Farrar Funeral Home of South Hill is serving the family.
