Obituary for Jerome "Jerry" Peter Baltes
Baltes, Jerome Peter, “Jerry” 87, from Boydton, Virginia, passed away Saturaday, November 19, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Jean Baltes; sister Jill Milazzo; daughter Lori Watkins.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia ‘Pat’ Baltes; brother, Patrick and wife Mary Kay Baltes; sister, Nancy Tuten; brother, Peter and wife Tina Baltes; daughter Donna Pemberton.
Jerry was born in Springfield MN, in 1935. His family moved to San Diego CA, in 1950. That is when he started his racing career. In 1964 he was the winner of the World Series of Drag Racing, Going 204.54 MPH, in his AA/FD. While on tour at the Richmond Dragway, he met Patricia and they married in 1966. 1969-2014 Jerry and Pat owned and operated Commercial Power Cleaners, Total Cleaning Power and Tank Trailer Leasing in Richmond, Virginia area. In 2004-2017, they toured his 1964 AA/FD Replica at server NHRA Cacklefest around the country. The car is now retired in the Don Gartlits Museum in Ocala Florida.
After selling the business in 2014 they have enjoyed traveling and spending time at their lake house. The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
