Obituary for John Molko Sr.
John passed away October 9th at 4:02PM at his home in Bracey, VA surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind his wife of almost 13 years, Sandra Purdy Molko, sons Ronald Honrine (Marilyn), Mike Honrine (Robin), and Robert Molko. and two stepsons Tracy and Jeffrey Keiser. His daughters Becky Molko Miller (Jeff), Lynne Molko Wiedholz (Joe). He was preceded in death by son John Molko, Jr. and daughter Kirby Molko
He was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson, several nieces, and many loyal friends who will cherish his memory. He will be greatly missed. John never knew a stranger and everyone that met him became his friend. He loved cooking for his family and friends, playing golf, and fishing. John passed away due to bacterial infections and kidney failure. He will be cremated and there will be no funeral or memorial service per his wishes.
John Molko was known to most as Capt. John. He was born in Lykens, PA to John Joseph Molko (1918-1995) and Arlene Mae Keiser (1921-1988). John was the oldest of five children.
In 1956, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps, went to ITR training at Camp Lejeune, NC; went to “P” school in Jacksonville, FL; and Memphis, TN for “A” school, Aviation Engine Mechanic. He then went to Atsugi, Japan working with F9F-AT jets. John was in Vietnam and was the OV-10 maintenance control officer. He was able to fly the OV-10 as a passenger (one of the highlights of his career). John retired in 1976 after 20 years of service in the US Marine Corps. After retirement, Captain John was a charter boat/commercial fisherman out of Snead’s Ferry, NC for 25 years.
