Obituary for John Edward Towell
Mr. John E. Towell, age 79 of South Hill and formerly Bracey, died peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2019. He is survived by his wife, Rose C. Towell of the home; two sons, Mark Towell (Beth Ann) of Henrico and J. T. Towell (Gretchen) of Sandston; two daughters, Debbie Gaustad (David) of San Diego and Jennifer Guzi (Matt) of Charlotte; and three step-children, Chris Murphy (Crystal) of Lawrenceville, Stacey King (Brian) of South Hill, and Sheri House of South Hill and were blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Towell was preceded in death by his parents, John R and Virginia Via Towell and his brother, Richard L. Towell.
John was the founder of National Church Purchasing Group and a founding member of the Family Foundation. He attended University of Virginia and was a veteran of the United States Army. John and his wife, Rose enjoyed retirement by traveling and spending time with family, while making treasured memories for those left behind.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at 3pm on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at New Hope Baptist Church, 255 Union Mill Road, LaCrosse VA 23950. The family will receive friends from 2pm until the time of service. Memorial considerations may be made in his memory to New Hope Baptist Church, P. O. Box 128, South Hill, VA 23970.
