Obituary for Marion Leroy Drummond
Mr. Marion Leroy Drummond, age 84 of Henrico, NC, died Monday, November 22, 2021. He is survived by his son-in-law, Lynn Smith and grandson, Michael Smith both of South Hill; his brother, Francis Drummond and a special friend, Betsy Thrift. Mr. Drummond was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret McAden Drummond; his children, Michael Drummond and Julie Drummond Smith, and his siblings, C. A. Drummond, Albertis Drummond, Beatrice D. McCall, Sophia D. Barkley, Jessie D. Roberts and Marjorie D. Flinchum.
For more than 30 years, Leroy was the plant manager with Abell Lumber Corporation. When he wasn't working, he could often be found enjoying the simple things in life. He could be described as a true outdoorsman as he was an avid quail hunter and loved his bird dogs. Leroy enjoyed living at the lake, boating, sharing time with his family and friends, and music (especially Willie's Roadhouse) where he could often be heard singing every word. Leroy loved his country and proudly served in the U S Army and was a member of Olive Branch United Methodist Church in Gasburg, VA.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2pm, Sunday Nov. 28 2021 at Oakwood Cemetery in South Hill. The family will receive friends at Farrar Funeral Home on Sunday from 12:30 until 1:30.
