Obituary for Bill Kuser

Mr. Raustin Herbert “Billy” Kuser, age 86 of Boydton passed away Tuesday , January 12, 2021. He is survived by his companion ,Yvonne McKeag and her son Kenneth Haase; Sons, David and Lucas; Daughter, Donna Wilkerson and her husband J.P.; Brother, Gene Kuser; Sister, Doris Collins and 3 Grandchildren, John Wilkerson ,Lindsey Kuser and Grant Kuser.
He began training dogs early in his life and soon made it a career spanning almost 60 years before hanging up his spurs and whistle. He enjoyed travel around the east coast participating in both shooting, dog and all age trials, judging trials for all bird dog associations, offering a lending hand to all the clubs and participants. He was associated with the Virginia amateur Field Trial Association even though he was a professional, always offering a lending hand or helping to put on trials.
He was awarded the Bird Dog Foundation, inc. – Life Patron Membership by the members of the Virginia Amateur Field Trial Association and several of his peers. A quote from that award that summed his life up “A person must know that any questions or action will be answered with perfect candor and precise clarity. Billy Kuser does not suffer fools well. He is, however always benevolent and willing to take time with those who are giving their best efforts. He is most remarkable when judging an amateur field trial He is totally amiable, understanding and patient with amateurs trying their hardest.” With Billy what you saw is what you got.
After he no longer ran in trials he turned to training amateur dogs and handlers. Almost everyone who has met Billy has a great story to tell and will for a long time to come. If you met him once you remembered him for life.
