Obituary for Shirley Robertson Carter

Mrs. Shirley Robertson Carter, age 84, of Chase City died Monday, March 9, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Linwood Carter and is survived by her children, Linwood Carter, Jr., Pamela Carter (Robert) both of Chase City and Valerie Carter G. (Safford) of Buckingham, VA; a brother, Thomas Gerald Robertson of Chesterfield; sisters, Wilda Stabler of Midlothian and Nell Rutledge of South Hill. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Shawna W. Bryant (Scott), Campbell Carter (Emily), Abigail Carter Pinero (Micah), and Jenna Gray; three great-grandchildren, Madelyn Ann Carter, Greenley Bryant and Breanna Bryant, and several-in-laws, Mattie Robertson of South Hill and Linda Robertson of Chesterfield Peggy Knowling of Southerland, VA and Norman Carter of Melbourne, FL. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her siblings, Eddie Royal Robertson, James Robertson, and Delma Kolekofski.

Shirley was retired from the Mecklenburg County School system where she worked in food service for many years and a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener loving her flowers, (especially iris'), a seamstress and quilter, and she loved feeding the birds that found their home with her.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11am, Saturday, March 14th at Farrar Funeral Chapel in South Hill with interment to follow in Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family request memorial considerations be made in her memory to Mt.
