Obituary for Thomas Ronald "Ron" Seward

Thomas R. "Ron" Seward, of LaCrosse VA, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on May 12 at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Edna, his first wife Ruth, and son Jeremy.

Ron was born on August 3, 1942 and raised in Queen Anne’s County, MD. After graduating from Centreville High School in 1960 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served for eight years, including a tour in Vietnam.

Ron worked for Delmarva Power and retired in 1997 to Lake Gaston, VA. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball, and was an avid Orioles fan. He was also a talented woodcarver and created many beautiful decoys and other birds. He would hold informal classes in his shop and taught others interested in the hobby. Ron’s greatest gift, however, was his kindness and generosity. He chose to devote a large part of his retirement to the service of others less fortunate than himself.

Ron was an active member in his church, of the Marine Corps League (especially Toys for Tots), American Legion, VFW and various other charitable organizations. He touched many lives and will be sorely missed by the many people who love him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Susan. Also surviving are his sister, Patricia O’ Quinn; his sons, Vern, Duane (Kathy), Robert (Patti); daughter, Jean and daughter-in-law, Jen Davis. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins he adored.

A memorial service will be held at 11am, on June 3, 2023 at Prospect United Methodist Church in Ebony, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron’s name to, Marine Corps League, Detachment 1085, P O Box 642, Bracey, VA 23919. Online condolences may be shared at www.farrarfuneralhome.net. Farrar Funeral Home is serving the Seward family.
