Obituary for Denton Edward Hite

Mr. Denton Edward Hite, 86, of Lunenburg County, died August 19, 2013. He was born July 6, 1927, the son of the late John Richard and Martha Sue Walthall Hite. He is survived by his two sisters, Blair Rowley (Earl) of South Hill, and Mary White (Leon) of Denver, Colorado, numerous nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren, his faithful childhood friend and hunting buddy, D.C. Keeter, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, sisters, and in-laws, Herbert Hite (Frances), Maben Hite (Gertrude), Richard Hite (Lee), Jennie Rose Little (Henry Moncure or “Monc”), Lillian Sue Duntsch (Bill), Francis Hite (Mary) and Sara Ferreira (Paul). He was a lifelong farmer. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Burlington Mills and Ft. Pickett. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served his country honorably during World War II. Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Antioch United Methodist Church in Lunenburg, with visitation afterwards in the fellowship hall, followed by private family services at the farm, Groveland. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church or your favorite charity. Farrar Funeral Home, South Hill is in charge of the arrangements.
