Mr. James Richard “Dickie” Compton,Jr., age 69, of South Hill died Monday, September 9, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Compton of the home; three sons, Randy Compton & Vincent Compton (Tammy) both of South Hill, and Jeffrey Compton (Melanie) of Victoria; two daughters, Jennifer Lewis (Joey) of Chesterfield and Lisa Arthur (Mike) of South Hill. Also surviving is a brother, Rev. Charles Judson “Jud” Compton of Crewe; a sister Diane C. Lively of Beckley WV; 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, James R. Compton Sr. and Dorothy Yeatts Compton, and his brother, Billy Yeatts Compton.

Mr. Compton was the owner/operator of J. R. Compton Plumbing services and attended New Hope Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Friday, September 13 at Farrar Funeral Chapel with interment to follow in Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30 – 8:00.
