Condolences

Condolence From: Gail Roberts Thomas
Condolence: Charlotte, Vernon Jr., Melvin, and Woody....What a gorgeous photo of Willie Mae. Your mom was such a lovely, classy, and yet down-to-earth lady. Mama has shared many stories of she and Willie Mae's adventures on buying trips for the store. I'm so glad that Mama was able to visit with her just the other week. Cherish your memories of your mom, and may God comfort you in the following days. All of you have been in my thoughts.

This message is being submitted on behalf of Barbara W. Joyner and family. We are deeply saddened and sorry for your loss. We regretfully did not find out until this morning, therefore; we weren't able to share in your services. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you. Hopefully, knowing that we love you and we care will help ease your pain during this time. May God Bless ALL of YOU!

Condolence: Dear Vernon Jr., Melvin, Woody, Charlotte & family,
It was so sad hearing that Aunt Willie Mae had passed away. I have such fond memories of her and Uncle Vernon. I loved to be there when they visited Nanny & Grandaddy. Aunt Willie Mae was a charming, beautiful lady inside and out. I remember always taking her hand to admire her pretty jewelry. I know my mom loved both of them as well, and always looked forward to seeing them, especially at our Christmas reunions. It's sad knowing that Aunt Willie Mae was the last of that generation. We are all blessed to have had such a wonderful family! Please know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers during this sad time.
Much love to each of you,
Jill, Harold & Grant Smith
( Maryellen's daughter )

Condolence: Vernon, Charlotte, Melvin, and Woody......Gosh....finding the apprppriate words is so difficult. My memories of "Miss Willie" are inescapably intertwined with "Mr. Vernon" during a very formative period in my life. Mr. Vernon and Miss Willie, in my eyes, were a very cool and grounded couple, and if they could corral Melvin and Woody and shape them into responsible adults, I was signing on, also. I remember Miss Willie as she would enter Oakley's Department Store and "glide" (ever so smoothly)to her destination point. Miss Willie was a true gracious, southern lady. May the fond memories that I'm sure we all hold close to our heart bring us comfort and may we all be assured that Mr. Vernon and Miss Willie are once again "cool and grounded."
