Condolence: Our family is saddened to hear about the death of Dr. Saunders. My family loved Dr. Saunders, especially my oldest daughter. She always enjoyed her medical appointments with him. Unfortunately he retired before my youngest daughter was born. I will never forget the time my daughter fell and put a gash above her eye. We took her to the emergency room and a doctor stitched her up. We took her to Dr. Saunders for a follow-up. He took one look and was very upset. He said the doctor put the stitches too tight and would leave a scar on her beautiful face. She loved that comment. He not only commented to us, he took the doctor's name and called him. The nurse told us he laid him out good. That's a doctor. You have a jewel that Southside Virginia will never forget. The family is in our prayers.

Condolence: My sincere condolences to Mrs. Saunders & all of her family. My memories of Dr. Saunders are many. When I worked at Community Memorial Hospital & it snowed, Dr. Saunders would come around on the floor I worked on & ask if I wanted to spend the night with them. I had clothes with me to stay in the hospital, but he insisted I stay with them. They both were so sweet & loving & felt like family & I enjoyed the company with their dog, Pooh. So many memories. Condolence: I am very saddened to hear of Dr Saunders passing. I can remember the kindness and support Dr Saunders and his wife Licille provided when both my father and mother passed away. The care and support he provided to my mother after my dad passed was exceptional and can never be forgotten or repaid.South Hill and the surrounding area has lost an exceptional person.
Dr Saunders was in the trueist meaning of the phrase, a physician and healer. Rest in Peace Dr Tom.
