Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Arthur Whitby can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Arthur P Whitby

Mr. Arthur P. Whitby, age 80 of Brodnax, died Thursday, May 12, 2016. He is survived by his children, Kevin Peebles Whitby (Marsha) of Alberta, Jimmy "Hobo" Jones (Alice) of Forksville, William Kirk Jones of Brodnax, Susan Michaels (Mike) of Baskerville, Margaret "Odell" Harris (Carl) of Winterville, NC, Deborah Lynn Jones and Judy Ann Boyd both of Meredithville. Also surviving are three brothers, Willie, Kenneth and Emory Whitby all of Lawrenceville; a sister, Louise Clary of Lawrenceville, fifteen grandchildren and numerous great / great-great grandchildren. Mr. Whitby was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Inez Whitby; a son, Thomas Jones and several siblings.

Mr. Whitby was a member of Matthews Chapel Methodist Church, an Army Veteran, and a member of the Lawrenceville VFW where he enjoyed being their "Stewmaster."

A graveside service will be conducted at 3pm, Sunday, May 15, 2016 by Pastor Wayne Clary at Olivet Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 2:30 Sunday, May 15, at Farrar Funeral Home in South Hill, VA.
