Blair Ruth  Rowley (Hite)
Blair Ruth Hite Rowley, 87, of South Hill, died June 2, 2016. She was born June 21, 1928, the daughter of the late John Richard and Martha Sue Walthall Hite.

She was predeceased by her husband, Earl Ferguson Rowley, Sr. She is survived by her three children, Martha Blair Leonard (Malcolm), Earl F. Rowley, Jr. (Elaine), Lisa Jane Rowley; two grandsons, Joshua L. Leonard (Laura) and Logan K. Rowley (Kristen) and one great-granddaughter, Katherine Elizabeth Leonard. She was predeceased by her grandson, Nolan L. Rowley.

Blair is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, their children and many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, sisters, and in-laws, Herbert Hite (Frances), Maben Hite (Gertrude), Richard Hite (Lee), Jennie Rose Little (Henry Moncure or “Monc”), Lillian Sue Duntsch (Bill), Francis Hite (Mary), Sara Ferreira (Paul), Denton Edward Hite and Mary White (Leon).

Blair was a retired Federal Civil Service employee, having worked in a number of secretarial and administrative professional positions with Federal Crop Insurance, Camp Pickett, Ft. Lee and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers at John H. Kerr Dam.

She was a life member of the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the South Hill United Methodist Church and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) (William Taylor Chapter). Blair was an avid gardener, reader, and antique collector. She loved fashion, stylish clothes, and interior design. She loved children.

Graveside services will be private, at her request, for her children and their families only, at Antioch United Methodist Church in Lunenburg County. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Antioch United Methodist Church, 3311 South Hill Rd., Kenbridge, VA 23944 or your favorite charity.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the exceptional and loving staff at Pine View Assisted Living Facility for their care of Blair Ruth over the past several years, to Lake Country Area Agency on Aging and to a very special caregiver and friend, the late Nerissa Martin.
