Mrs. Carolyn B. Jones, age 88 of South Hill, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014. She is survived by her son, Bob Jones (Robin) of Boydton and daughter, Beth J. Morris (Russ) of Coral Springs, FL. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Steve Jones, Rob Morris, Susan Leffert, Katie Morris, Jade Kindley, and Juli Jones; 9 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, John Field of Hawaii, and a life-long best friend, Jane Paulette Taylor. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband James DeCalb Jones; a son, Jimmy Jones; grandson, Neal Jones; and two sisters, Jacqueline B. Field and Pela Love Bobbitt.

Carolyn was a graduate of South Hill High School and Farmville State Teachers College. She was a life-long educator who loved her students; having taught in Mecklenburg County at South Hill Elementary, Buckhorn Elementary, and as Headmistress of South Hill Academy. She also taught at Jackson Davis Elementary in Henrico County.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10am Friday, March 21 at First Baptist Church in South Hill with interment to follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:30 – 7:30 at Farrar Funeral Home.
