Our family is saddened to hear about the death of Dr. Saunders. My family loved Dr. Saunders, especially my oldest daughter. She always enjoyed her medical appointments with him. Unfortunately he retired before my youngest daughter was born. I will never forget the time my daughter fell and put a gash above her eye. We took her to the emergency room and a doctor stitched her up. We took her to Dr. Saunders for a follow-up. He took one look and was very upset. He said the doctor put the stitches too tight and would leave a scar on her beautiful face. She loved that comment. He not only commented to us, he took the doctor's name and called him. The nurse told us he laid him out good. That's a doctor. You have a jewel that Southside Virginia will never forget. The family is in our prayers.
