Paula Basnett

My Uncle Jerry was a quiet man, but always ready for a smile or chuckle. I remember spending summer days on the lake while he attempted to teach me to whaterski. I ended up with my face planted in the water more than my feet. To me, he always appeared like a solid, constant, gentle person. He was also always quick to share his faith. His hunger to know the deep things drove him to study the Word. He knew more about Jesus than anyone I've ever known. He knew more about Jesus and how Jesus treated people. He sent tapes of his radio show for us to listen to. He taught me so much about Jesus, the Word and the Lord. What a legacy he leaves. Hours of radio broadcasts, church plants, lives he touched. I wish I had had the opportunity to tell him that it's because of him that I search the scriptures, and want to know the real meanings of all of those Hebrew and Greek words. He is responsible for my relationship with the Lord, not my knowledge or religion; but relationship. He is one of the very few who I truly respect.
